This expedition takes you into the rainforests of Belize, a haven for the rare jaguar and puma. Penetrate the jungle via riverboat, ATV and on foot, venturing out from your camp at night to track these elusive cats. Extend your journey with a diving expedition either to Gladden Spit, one of the best dive sites in the world for whale shark, or to two of the area's premiere diving destinations, the Blue Hole and Turneffe Elbow.

Days 1-8:

Day 1
Belize City, Belize Latitude 17°28’59”| Longitude -88°10’59”: Your Extreme Adventure begins today as you board your flight to Belize. On arrival you are met and transferred to the Fort George Hotel to meet with your expedition guide and team.

Days 2
Peccary Hills Nature Park: Travel by motorboat, kayak and ATV from the Northern Lagoon and mangrove swamps to the Peccary Hills Nature Park and your tented camp. Along the way, spot tapir, jaguar and puma, with howler and spider monkey in the canopy of the forest.

Days 3-4
Peccary Hills Nature Park: Venture out at night in search of the elusive puma and jaguar, which co-exist within the dense jungle. During the day, kayak the Sibun River and observe howler monkey in the surrounding trees as well as the endangered jabiru stork and wood stork. Disembark and explore ancient Mayan caves with an archaeologist, searching for remnants of the Mayan civilization.

Peccary Hills/Runaway Creek Nature Preserve/Cayo District Latitude 16°49’59” | Longitude -88°55’0”: Join a naturalist on a bird-banding research project at Runaway Creek Nature Preserve. Later, hike to the ancient cave of Actun Tunichil Muknal that still holds the traces of ancient worship, including the mineralized remains of human sacrifices made to the Mayan gods during the end of their civilization.

Cayo District: Arrive at Xunantunich, one of the great cities of the Mayan kingdom and hike to the top of the main temple complex. This afternoon, canoe through Barton Creek, a unique complex of caves and channels formed by the constant energy of running water flowing through rock.

Cayo District: Travel to Tikal, the largest Mayan city with more than 4,000 ancient structures spread across 52 square miles. Not only will you explore the pyramids, but you also hike through the site with the opportunity to see many wildlife including jaguar, cougar, jaguarundi and grey fox.
