Day 1: Lewiston, Idaho:

You are met at the airport this afternoon and transferred to, 'Safari Explorer,' where your crew greets you with champagne. After a short dinner cruise along the canyons of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers, a local historian joins you in the salon for an informative presentation on the area.

Day 2: Hells Canyon:

After breakfast, board a jet boat for an invigorating ride into Hells Canyon. Watch as vertical cliffs carved by the river hem in the rushing waters as you jet upriver. Look for big horn sheep and hawks. Afterward, cruise the Snake River, passing through Lower Granite lock and dam. After dinner, join your expedition leader for a brief orientation on your journey.

Day 3: Palouse Canyon:

Pass through the Little Goose lock and dam first thing this morning and then anchor at the mouth of the Palouse River. The kayaks and skiff are lowered for an up-close exploration of the pristine and lovely Palouse Canyon. Watch for hundreds of cliff swallow that nest on the canyon walls and for northern harriers and osprey hovering above the still waters as they hunt.

Day 4: Birding, Rivers and Historical Confluence:

Transit the locks of McNary Dam, which encompasses an impressive wildlife region. Keep your eyes peeled and binoculars in hand to see some of the 212 species of migratory birds that rest here en route through the Pacific Fly-way: snow goose, tundra swan, canvasback, ring-necked duck, redhead and many others. Later, pass by Sacajawea State Park and learn about the Lewis and Clark Expedition's travails and triumphs through this river confluence area.

Day 5: Washington Wine Country:

The fastest wine-growing region in the U.S. is in eastern Washington, and today you see why. Visit North Star and L'Ecole No. 41 for tours and tastings. Then return to the yacht with time free to relax until dinner.

Day 6: Cruising the Columbia River:

The vast eastern plains give way to the flanks of the Cascade Mountain Range as 'Safari Explorer' cruises west. Watch as the banks of the river go from gentle and low-lying to cliffs rising hundreds of feet high. The wind and weather shift from arid to temperate as the yacht nears the Pacific Ocean. Stop in Hood River, the windsurfing capital of the world, this afternoon where you have time to browse the boutique shops or tour the local brewpub.

Day 7: Columbia Gorge and Bonneville Dam:

Head up to the outside desks for beautiful views as 'Safari Explorer' cruises through the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. Step ashore at Bradford Island for a guided tour of Bonneville Lock and Dam. Visit the power station and fish ladders to learn more about how this engineering marvel fits into the local environment and community. This evening, enjoy a festive farewell dinner.

After breakfast, transfer to the Portland airport for connections home.

DEPOSIT & FINAL PAYMENT
INDIVIDUAL STATEROOM BOOKINGS
A deposit of $1,500 per person is required at time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to arrival. If your reservation is made within 60 days of departure, the entire cost of the program must be paid at time of the request in order to secure confirmation.

Final payment must reach our office 60 days prior to your departure from your home city or in full at the time reservations are confirmed if less than 60 days prior. If this payment is not received in time, your space may be released; rebooking will then be subject to final availability.

In the event of written cancellation, the following forfeiture of tour price will be assessed based on the number of days prior to the tour departure the cancellation was received.
91 days or more….. $750 per person
90-60 days….. forfeiture of deposit
59-46 days….. 50% of the tour price
45-31 days….. 75% of the tour price
30 days or less 100% of the tour price
