Day 1: Lewiston, Idaho:

You are met at the airport this afternoon and transferred to 'Safari Explorer' where your crew greets you with champagne and hors d'oeuvres. Meet your on-board guest vintner during cocktail hour and be sure to visit the Wine Library after dinner for an introductory wine tasting.

Day 2: Hells Canyon:

After breakfast, board a jet boat for an invigorating ride into Hells Canyon. Watch as vertical cliffs carved by the river hem in the rushing waters as you jet upriver. Look for big horn sheep and hawk. Afterward, cruise the Snake River, passing through Lower Granite lock and dam. After dinner, join your expedition leader for a brief orientation on your journey.

Day 3: Palouse Canyon:

Pass through the Little Goose lock and dam first thing this morning and then anchor at the mouth of the Palouse River. The kayaks and skiff are lowered for an up-close exploration of the pristine and lovely Palouse Canyon. Watch for hundreds of cliff swallow that nest on the canyon walls and for northern harrier and osprey hovering above the still waters as they hunt.

Day 4: The Washington Wine Country — Walla Walla Appellation:

Travel to the Walla Walla Appellation for a visit to L'Ecole Nº 41, an unusual winery located in a historic 1915 Frenchtown schoolhouse. Join your wine "scholar" on a private tour and tasting of prized reserve wines such as an Estate Syrah from the winery's acclaimed partner, Seven Hills Vineyard. Sip vibrant, aromatic wines while surrounded by nostalgic remnants of school classes of long ago. A short distance away, Northstar is a unique destination winery known for its ultra-premium merlot wines. Learn about Northstar's handcrafted, limited production award-winning reserve wines during a private tasting and wine production tour. You also have the opportunity to blend your own complex merlot creation under the tutelage of the world-class winemakers. After a specially prepared lunch, savor some of the Walla Walla Appellation's finest cabernet sauvignon and merlot as you stroll the landscaped gardens of Basel Cellars Estate Winery. Housed in a subterranean structure, the winemaking facilities are modeled after the famous Château Mouton Rothschild in the Pauillac Appellation of Bordeaux, France. After returning to the yacht, relax on deck as you cruise along the rolling Columbia River. Enjoy the hot tub, read a book, or join the captain on the bridge to watch the sunset.

Day 5: The Washington Wine Country — Red Mountain and Yakima Valley Appellation:

After breakfast on board, travel to Hedges Family Estate Winery, known for its cabernet sauvignon. Enjoy an exclusive tasting in the estate's private family library. Later, explore the adjacent vineyard and European-styled courtyard garden. At the conclusion of the tour, travel a short distance to Terra Blanca Winery and Estate Vineyard. Join the winemaker for an exclusive tour before enjoying a romantic luncheon in the caves of this bold Tuscany-style winery. Afterward, stroll the cobbled walkways to explore the meticulously landscaped grounds and reflecting lake. Later this afternoon, rejoin 'Safari Explorer' for sunset cruising along the Columbia River.

Day 6: Maryhill Museum and Maryhill Winery/Columbia Gorge Appellation:

Cruise through a stretch of wilderness that is home to northern harrier, cliff swallow, osprey, mule deer and coyote before transiting another series of locks and dams, beginning with the John Day Lock and Dam. Then visit Maryhill Museum and Maryhill Winery. The museum's collections of native arts, European paintings and the queen of Romania's personal effects are housed in a castle-like château located on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. At the winery, taste wines from a special list. Return to 'Safari Explorer' and pass through the Dalles Lock and Dam.

Day 7: Hood River, Bonneville Dam and Columbia Gorge:

Make a port call at Hood River, the windsurfing capital of the world, to tour the Full Sail Brewing Company's local brewery and browse the boutique shops. Back on board, join your expedition leader on deck as 'Safari Explorer' enters the striking Columbia River Gorge. This spectacular canyon cuts the only sea-level route through the Cascade Mountain Range and is a designated National Scenic Area. Leave the yacht for a private tour of the impressive Bonneville Dam, the last dam on the Columbia River as you head west toward the Pacific Ocean. View the massive turbines that produce enormous amounts of hydropower and step outside to see the fish ladder. After tonight's farewell dinner, watch a slideshow of journey memories.

Day 8: Clear Creek Distillery/Portland, Oregon:

After breakfast, depart for Portland, Oregon. Stop en route at Clear Creek Distillery, producers of pear-in-the-bottle brandy. Continue to the airport for your flight home.

A deposit of $1,500 per person is required at time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to arrival. If your reservation is made within 60 days of departure, the entire cost of the program must be paid at time of the request in order to secure confirmation.

Final payment must reach our office 60 days prior to your departure from your home city or in full at the time reservations are confirmed if less than 60 days prior. If this payment is not received in time, your space may be released; rebooking will then be subject to final availability.

90-60 days….. forfeiture of deposit
59-46 days….. 50% of the tour price
45-31 days….. 75% of the tour price
30 days or less…..100% of the tour price
