A&K RECOMMENDS … Board an overnight flight to Johannesburg. After arriving, you are transferred to your hotel with time to relax before dinner. Later this evening, meet your fellow travellers at a welcome dinner. A professional photographer joins you and offers advice on how to best capture your memories in photos. Meals Served: D Day 3: Johannesburg/Maun, Botswana/Okavango Delta: Fly to Maun where you embark on a cultural tour. Meet members of a traditional Sixaxa village for special insight into their way of life as they discuss their traditions. Later, connect to Stanley's Camp, set in an amphitheater of ebony and sausage trees on the southern tip of Chief's Island. It borders the southern section of the private Moremi Game Reserve, home to a wide variety of big game including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah and the rare and elusive wild dog. Meals Served: B L D Day 4: Okavango Delta: You have a full day to explore the numerous wildlife viewing opportunities the Okavango Delta has to offer. Activities ranging from mokoro (dugout canoe) rides (seasonal), night game drives and bush walks provide endless wildlife viewing options. Sightings of the rare and elusive wild dog and some of the best game viewing in the Okavango Delta make Stanley's Camp a prime destination. A unique feature of your stay at Stanley's is an educational experience with a group of semi-habituated African elephant. Meals Served: B L D Day 5: Okavango Delta: Fly to Chief's Camp deep in the Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game reserve. Known as the "predator capital" of Botswana, this region offers some of the finest game viewing in the area. Settle in to your luxurious camp and embark on a game drive this afternoon or relax under the jackalberry trees of the main lounge and look for game across the floodplains in front of camp. Meals Served: B L D Day 6: Okavango Delta: You have an opportunity to spot leopard, cheetah, wild dog, spotted hyena and a large resident pride of lion on game drives. This area of the delta is known for its elephant, buffalo, red lechwe, giraffe, impala and predators. Add to that the 400 species of bird life and the rare white and black rhino, and you have the best gaming experience that Botswana can offer. Meals Served: B L D Day 7: Okavango Delta/Kasane/Chobe National Park: After breakfast, fly to Chobe National Park, covering diverse landscapes ranging from teak forests to floodplains and marshlands. Your exquisite lodge sits above the Chobe River, offering panoramic views across the islands and floodplains as far as Namibia. You may wish to visit the newly opened Spa, which offers a variety of spa and hydrotherapy treatments from both the Thalgo and Africology ranges. Meals Served: B L D Day 8: Chobe National Park: Begin your day shortly after sunrise with a game drive that offers an opportunity to spot animals searching for breakfast. This afternoon, embark on a river cruise by a motorboat customized for a water safari. The area is home to the largest concentration of elephant in Africa, as well as an abundance of hippo, buffalo, antelope and lion. Meals Served: B L D Day 9: Chobe/Livingstone, Zambia: Depart Chobe this morning and fly to Livingstone, Zambia. Settle into one of 12 luxury tree houses built into the living canopy lining the bank; each unit has a private view of the Zambezi from its own deck among the branches. During one of your days here, visit a local market, village and orphanage to see how rural Zambian women go about their daily lives. You may also have lunch at a local woman-owned restaurant. In the fading twilight hours, take a sunset cruise to savor Africa's beauty while you sip a traditional cocktail. Meals Served: B L D Day 10: Livingstone: This morning, embark on a guided walking tour of one of the great natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls. At times, the water flow can be up to 120 million gallons per minute, and the roar of the falling water can be nearly as awe-inspiring as the view. You may also choose to visit a local village and provide support for the school and clinic. Meals Served: B L D Day 11: Livingstone/Johannesburg, South Africa/USA or Canada: Fly to Johannesburg and connect with your international flight.
