Journey to South Africa and Victoria Falls

Day 1 - Welcome to Livingstone, Zambia
Check in to the Royal Livingstone, overlooking the mighty Zambezi River. In the later afternoon, step aboard the Lady Livingstone for a sunset cocktail cruise. It’s also a great opportunity to view the wildlife that comes down to the river as the bright light of day begins to wane. Meals D

Day 2 - Experience magnificent Victoria Falls #WHS#
Locals call it The Smoke that Thunders! This morning, join your knowledgeable guide for in-depth exploration of the Victoria Falls. Your walking tour takes you to the best vantage points, including Knife Edge and Danger Point. Return to your Lodge where the afternoon and evening are free to enjoy as you wish. Meals B,D

Day 3 - On to Thornybush Nature Reserve at Kruger National Park
You’ll be escorted to the airport for your included flight to Kruger. Upon arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to the 5-star Thornybush Game Lodge, set in an animal-rich private reserve adjacent to Kruger National Park. Meals B,D

Day 4 - The thrill of safari!
With fewer visitors and an amazing concentration of wildlife – especially the “Big Five,” you can be assured that the game viewing at Thornybush is unequaled. In comfortable, open-top 4x4 safari vehicles, with only six passengers and the finest ranger guides, you’ll enjoy thrilling morning and afternoon game drives and bush walks. Meals B,L,D

Day 5 - Another day at Thornybush
Enjoy another day here at the Thornybush Lodge, with morning and afternoon game drives. In between these outings, you can relax on your private verandah overlooking the savannah, take a refreshing dip in the pool, or indulge in available treatments at the Thornybush Spa. Meals B,L,D

Day 6 - Into the Cape Winelands
You’ll be escorted to the airport for your included flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival, commence your journey into the picturesque Winelands and check in to the Le Franschhoek , newly renovated to five star luxury in one of the most beautiful settings in the reigon. Tonight, we’ve arranged for a special-menu dinner in the hotel’s elegant dining room. Enjoy the charming ambience as you savor signature dishes from tLe Franschhoek’s celebrated chefs. Meals D

Day 7 - Winding your way to Cape Town
Explore picturesque Wineland villages like Paarl and Stellenbosch, one of the most historic towns in South Africa, with fine examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Regency architecture. Enjoy lunch, wine tastings at some of the country’s finest estates, and the opportunity to revel in this exceptional setting - where lush vineyards are set against the dramatic peaks of the Boland Mountains. Your day ends on the lively Cape Town waterfront at the deluxe Victoria and Alfred Hotel. Meals B, L

Day 8 - To the end of the continent – and back!
Travel to Duiker Island to see Cape fur seals and drive along the coast to the Cape Point Lighthouse. After lunch, stop at Boulders Beach, home to African penguins, and return to Cape Town. Meals B,L

Day 9 - Explore Robben Island #WHS# and Cape Town
Join your expert guide this morning for a full-day introduction to the city, Robben Island, and Table Mountain. Depart first by ferry for a 25-minute trip across Table Bay to Robben Island. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, and South Africa's most revered national monument, was a prison for some 450 years with its most famous inmate being Nelson Mandela. The tour, led by former inmate guides, includes a visit to the Prison Block, and the now infamous Limestone Quarry, where political prisoners were once forced to toil. It also includes a drive around the island, with its breathtaking views across the bay. Return to the “mainland” to meet your guide again for a trip along the picturesque Atlantic Seaboard and lunch at a seafood restaurant en-route. Continue past sunny Camps Bay, over Kloof Nek to Table Mountain's Lower Cableway Station, for a 5-minute revolving cable car ride to the top. Over 3,000 feet above sea level, Table Mountain affords bird's-eye views as you explore its summit and unique ecosystem. Return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter, for a walk through the Company Gardens, a fresh produce garden for ships and locals from the mid 17th Century, and now home to the South African Museum, National Gallery and St George's Cathedral. Drive to the Castle, South Africa's oldest building, and take in the nearby Grand Parade, where Nelson Mandela addressed the nation on his release in 1990. Meals B,L
