A Week In... Paris and Provence

Day 1: Arrive Nice
A transfer is included from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to the Hôtel Le Negresco in Nice, one of the world's few privately owned palaces. Please join us for a welcome reception and dinner tonight.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Eze, Monaco & Nice
Head out to the medieval village of Eze this morning, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, before traveling to Monte-Carlo in the tiny Principality of Monaco. Explore the Palace area in Monaco-Ville, and have lunch on the terrace of the Fairmont Monte Carlo. A visit to the Chagall Museum precedes free time in Nice.

Day 3: Aix-en-Provence / Château d'Estoublon
View Mont Ste-Victoire, featured in many of Cézanne's works, en route to Aix-en-Provence. Join your local guide for a walking tour of this historic town known for its fountains, shaded squares and medieval center. Enjoy an afternoon visit to the private estate and winery of Château d'Estoublon in the Baux Valley; arrive early evening at your hotel in St-Rémy-de-Provence for a two-night stay.

Day 4: Arles & Olive Oil at Mas des Barres
Vincent van Gogh was inspired by the landscapes you’ll see en route to medieval Arles. A walking tour of Old Town takes in the Roman ruins and includes sights that the artist painted. After lunch on your own, continue to the Pont du Gard for an adventurous walk atop the 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct spanning the River Gardon. Dinner tonight is a special treat when we take you to the Moulin du Mas des Barres olive orchards for an insider’s look at the oil production process, complete with a tasting and Provençal folklore.

Day 5: Medieval Avignon & TGV Train to Paris
Avignon has reigned as one of the most beautiful medieval cities since the 14th century when it was the capital of Christendom and the home of the popes. A visit inside Palais des Papes with a local guide reveals the treasures and lifestyles of the pontiffs who reigned in Avignon for almost 70 years. Explore the walled city on your own, before traveling first class this afternoon on the high-speed TGV to Paris. Enjoy a full à la carte dinner at a popular local restaurant close to your hotel.

Day 6: Joie de Vivre in Paris
A guided sightseeing tour today gives you a great overview of the city and includes the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Élysées, Place de la Concorde, the Eiffel Tower and Cathedral of Notre Dame. Join us for lunch amidst great views of landmark sights, then explore Paris as you wish for the rest of the day.

Day 7: Musée du Louvre & a Farewell to Paris
A guided tour this morning takes you inside the Musée du Louvre to see some of the world’s most famous art masterpieces including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Spend the afternoon at leisure and join us for our farewell dinner tonight as we bid adieu to Paris.

Day 8: Journey Home
Tour ends: Paris. Fly home anytime. A transfer from the Hotel Scribe to Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports or a Paris train station is included. Allow 3 hours for flight check-in.
