Day 3: Ancient Memphis / Sakkara / DahshurAt ancient Memphis, first capital of Egypt’s “Old Kingdom,” see the statue of Ramesses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. Trace the progress of pyramid design at Sakkara and the Royal Tombs of Dahshur; view the Step Pyramid of Djoser and explore the Teti Pyramid. As a Tauck Exclusive, go inside the private tomb of one of the site’s early mastabas. Tonight, enjoy a spectacular sound and light show at the Pyramids and the Sphinx in Giza.

Day 4: Fly to Luxor / Temples and Luxor MuseumFly aboard our charter flight to Luxor, site of the ancient city of Thebes. The treasures of Upper Egypt highlight a guided visit to the remarkable Luxor Museum. You’ll have time to explore the town of Luxor, one of the world’s most extraordinary “open-air” museums, at leisure; its antiquities include the great temple complex of Luxor, along with many pylons, sphinxes and obelisks. Follow a sunset cocktail cruise on a felucca with dinner at your hotel, where your room overlooks the fabled River Nile.

Day 5: Valley of the Kings / Embark Nile AdventurerView Queen Hatshepsut’s temple en route to the Valley of the Kings. Day 6: Temple of Karnak / Cruise to EsnaIf you wish, start your day with an early morning optional hot air balloon ride over the Valleys of the Kings and Queens (additional $175 per person). Our expert Egyptologist leads an excursion to Luxor and its Great Hypostyle Hall today. Actually composed of three main temples and several smaller ones, Luxor’s Temple of Karnak is the largest complex of its kind ever built. Later, Nile Adventurer sets off from Luxor on an exciting day spent cruising the River Nile. Glimpse life along the ancient riverbanks as the ship makes its way to Esna throughout the day, enjoying a cooking demonstration and afternoon tea. Don local attire for an “Egyptian Night” evening of entertainment and dancing.
