Day 6 - Zermatt - Geneva
This morning''s train journey takes us out of German-speakingSwitzerland to the international city of Geneva on the lake of thesame name. Capital city of the Suisse Romande (French-speakingSwitzerland) containing the headquarters of a number ofinternational organizations such as the Red Cross, Geneva is afascinating city to visit. We''ll enjoy an orientation tourhighlighting the Reformation Monument, the Flower Clock and the Jetd''Eau. We will also enjoy a short walking tour of the old town.Later, you may wish to enjoy a delicious dinner of Swissspecialties in a restaurantoverlooking a view of Europe''s highest mountain - Mont Blanc!See our Tour Director for advice on where to eat dinner thisevening. Day 7 - Geneva - Interlaken - Lucerne (2 nights)
We enjoy another stunning day of scenery as we depart from Genevaon our train, which takes the Golden Pass route. We disembark fromthe train in Interlaken in the heart of the Swiss Alps, beautifullysituated between the glassy lakes of Thun and Brienz, and at thefoot the famous trio of peaks, the Eiger, the Mönch and theJungfrau. Here we have time to relax and enjoy the superb views ofthe peaks of the Bernese Oberland, so beloved of Queen Victoria whooften stayed in Interlaken. We reboard the train to travel onthrough the Brunig Pass to lakeside Lucerne incentral Switzerland for our leisurely two-night stay. Day 8 - Lucerne orientation & at leisure
After breakfast we enjoy an orientation tour around this medievalcity highlighting the poignant Lion Monument, built in memory ofLouis XVI''s Swiss Guard, and the covered wooden Chapel Bridge whichspans the River Reuss and is decorated inside with wooden panelswhich chronicle the history of Lucerne. Later with time on yourown, you may wish to take an optional excursion to a nearbymountain peak, famed for its splendid views. Maybe ascendStanzerhorn by cogwheel railway and cablecar with wonderful viewsof the alpine pastures. Or perhaps choose to explore theold city and shop for Swiss watches, cuckoo clocks anddelicious Swiss chocolates. Day 9 - Lucerne - Zurich - USA
This morning after breakfast it is time to bid farewell toSwitzerland, our Tour Director and our new-found friends as ourSwiss vacation comes to an end. We are given tickets by our TourDirector for the short train journey from Lucerne to Zurich Airportwhich we can take at our convenience for our onward journeyhomewards. (Buffet breakfast)
