Tour Summary

Antarctica map, Discovery world, 2006At Waterboat Point, a tiny island linked at low tide to the peninsula, a lonely hut stands as a tribute to the four-man expedition that studied here in the 1920s. It’s a sharp contrast to the working scientific station we’ll visit, where teams monitor wildlife and the effects of climate change. Sailing roundtrip from Argentina, it’s a loop filled with a host of colorful anecdotes and heroic achievements.

Ship Information

CLASSICAL AND ELEGANT design are the hallmarks of Discovery. She wraps all of today's modern, expected comforts within a sleek exterior reminiscent of the classic liners of yesteryear. Today's Discovery is quick to make you feel at home. At creating a space you can call your own – whether you're ambling along her Promenade Deck, relaxing in her restaurants and public rooms, or stretching out on an easy chair around the pool. Whatever your choice of cabin, colors and furnishings have been carefully selected to ensure you don't feel crowded. Bars and lounges enjoy spectacular ocean views. Picture windows surround the Gym and Beauty Salon where you'll enjoy the panorama of the shores and oceans Discovery leaves in her wake. Other attractions aft include the open-air Jacuzzis on her Sun Deck, the Waves Bar and pool on the Riviera Deck. And because her designers have placed such emphasis on space, you'll love the Lido Deck where her all-weather sunroof retracts and disappears, leaving the pool amidships to bask in the sun and tables ready for an al fresco lunch.

All have private facilities, air-conditioning, TV, hair dryer and safe. Cabins on Bridge and Promenade Deck have bath and a shower, cabins on other decks have showers. Outside cabins on Bridge and Promenade Decks have picture windows (the view of the Owner's Suite is obscured by lifeboats).
