At
Waterboat Point, a tiny island linked at low tide to the
peninsula, a lonely hut stands as a tribute to the four-man
expedition that studied here in the 1920s. It’s a sharp contrast
to the working scientific station we’ll visit, where teams
monitor wildlife and the effects of climate change. Sailing
roundtrip from Argentina, it’s a loop filled with a host of
colorful anecdotes and heroic achievements.
